Charlie Kane

Charlie Kane was practically born on the dancefloor and has been exposed to beats breaks and basslines since birth. He is the next generation original Rave Baby. With music on his mind, his mind has always been on music.

He first started writing Hip Hop and Grime with friends in Brighton in 2008 then moved to France at the age of fourteen and his beats became more Rave orientated.
The sounds of Tech Funk, Acid, Fidget and Electro closing the gap between 4 Beat and Breakbeat.

Shortly afterwards he swapped classes at school for classes with the old school underground masters, 69db, Crystal Distortion, Ixindamix and Midilink, who all recognised his talents and have been keen to encourage his musical mission.

Now at the age of 15 he works part time in the Audiotrix record shop and is saving up to buy a new computer.

First Pro Cheese 2 Release for a fair few years. The story of a man with just about everything wrong with him. Tracks were written and arranged in 69DB's Studio in the Expressillon bassment with use of a midi guitar. Acid Cheese mix and dub + the bonus track "Stone Thang" where then taken back to the Audiotrix Soundlabz for arrangements and mixdown. 69DB finished off the Original Edit and Techno Remix up in Paris. The Pro Cheese 2 are Ixindamix and 69DB. Recommended taken 3 times a day between meals these tracks are a guaranteed cure .......

Snkls is a dj and producer, who started his career in illegals Free Parties in Center of France in 1999.

He was the first one to introduce and play Drum'n'Bass in this side of the country, who quickly met with great success during his set at sunrise. Thus he could develop this style in bars and concert venues.

Bad Girlz, Cyberdelics duo consisting of Ixindamix and Mc Sim Simmer (the 'voice of Spiral Tribe')!

Their friendship was forged on the dancefloors of outdoor raves of the early 90s before each individual does continue its mission around the world to finally meet in 2006 with complicity intact, including the studio where Ixindamix and Sim Simmer develop a style of writing clean, light, spontaneous and intuitive, relying on their life experiences, fun and feminine.

On stage their league is even more fulfilling and Bad Girlz take you into a world of tireless dancers mounted on springs wearing an ecstatic smile.

Elaboration of climates, science of streched speechs, primacy of the sensory on the frontal, treatment of peripheral elements and of melodic lines on the same level : that's the vision of the Boucles Etranges, forged since the beginning of the 90's, in the agitated waters of the electronic free parties. In another life, the duo tried out pop and rock, with in the mouth a back taste of something missing.
This vacuity was filled at the discovery of electronic possibilities capable to answer questions in a different way.In 16 years of activity, the duo put the finishing touches in it's identary character, which a provided discography testifies, deliberately and predominantly constitued of maxis (on the labels : Network23, Isotope, Xpdigiflex, U238, Fantom, Subradar, HoKuspokus, Audiolab, BarbaraGood, Electro Lab Factory , War…).
Until now, the duo only accepted to engrave one cd in 2002 ( "Paysage Spatial Imaginaire" ). So the releasing of "Portail 46" means a lot : an event in the course of the Boucles Etranges and a heavy contribution for the underground music lovers.

First French to have recorded with the Spiral Tribe, accumalating several "maxis" on the english label Network 23, the Boucles Etranges made themselves a name. That the duo has found an artistic incubation field in the self sufficuient free movement is not a surprise. This environment that, at the height of it's utopia, synthetized the squatt culture, the concept of the TAZ (Temporary Autonomous Zone) formulated by the anarchist Hakim Bey, the Do it Yourself of the punk origines and the energy of the Stonehenge traveller movement, constitued for Fleur and Chris an obvious fact, and a windfall. They found in it an open minded place and a perpetual movement, as their musical ideal... Because understanding their compositions, is before all approving primarily their aversion for the organized world, the precise timing of the word time, the "millimetered" lenght of the vital space. It's also the revendication of the "let go".«By deffinition, are music pieces never have an end. It's a 110 000 % of exploration. Everything can always be left to aside, or taken back.» On the dancefloor and if they get worked up, you can get it for hours, whatever it's grade.

At free parties, then in clubs or lucrative festivals, we wait for their live improvisations, their musical approach thats extremely psychedelic, and this so particular mix between rallying tribal and hardcore obedience. Understand hardcore in the litteral sense of term, just like psychedelic, because it's definitely for them «expressing the psyche» by playing sounds that galvanize the senses.Their loops call the trance, with all it's got of unusual and hypnotic.
So, this world propels into a new mysticism, reveals to the dancer his faculties to obscure the verb and the intellect, and leaves the duo to compose with liberty to exercice their free will.
«Our phylosophy cannot be summarized. But we cannot say we never looked back. Your life, it's the result of what you have in the present. It's what defines it. Everything we own is at proximity, we know how to content ourselves with what we've got».
Between «having it» et «being it», les Boucles Étranges have decided without any qualm feelings. Since, they give everything to the alternative way of life. When it goes to some as a defect, it is the motor sine qua none of their creative mechanism. The rejection of pressures in the live improvisation : «We never listen to our records. We always put everything in a moment, the one of the live. The instantaneous, is the endless and ephemeral imprint of one single instant of life, it's celebrating the preciosity of the moment you live, without sophistication.». In live, the Boucles Étranges blossom under the impulsion of their instincts. Their energy is blended. It is carried by the public : an active, vital interlocutor.

«Portail 46» eradicated them from their reflex. The album has been realized in two times. Six music pieces (Rigolleto Egality, Fantomxx, Who Killez ET, Melo Dead, Bengalores, Spacebeans) are the fruit of these last five years. Confused period, stabbed by doubts, where the duo seriously took a new look. It was necessary to put everything back on : your urge, your goals, the "why" of all that. And also changing the material.
Fortunately, we find again all their eloquence in "Portail 46" : this abyss setting between the primary spirit of the party, the mind's imaginary and the evasion power.

The rest of the album has been recorded at some friends studio, «L'Estrade», in the Ariege, where the duo started a weeks work with MC Tablloyd : «We have discovered a real creative. He is not just an MC, he is also a singer and a musician. He seemed having a great time, he had fun singing an playing the piano... We didn't have enougth time with him. His capacities are huge». The elaborated titles were then reworked 6 months at the homestudio : «It was hell because Tablloyd improvised a lot and likes to stretch the music pieces out like us. We had hours of music in which we had to choose the best moments». Six music pieces of anthology came out of it all (Time Space,Solar Propaganda, Destiny, Accap, Kanel, Secret) where Tablloyd swings freely between the freak crooner, the asserted soul brother and the crazy preacher. On progressive melodic sketches, unstructured or not, breaked or not, he goes with his own delirious will through a dozen of different vocal colours. Between him and the French, we are further from collaboration than meeting. We can even talk about "love at first sight".

By restricting what we believe in the most (the instantaneous), by accepting to delimit the music pieces (the longest is only 7.02 minutes). Retaining the marks of the past but expressing other desires, the album announces less an enumeration of novelty(s) than a position about the future. "Portail 46" trumpets artists in mutation, that without rejecting the acquired foundations, want to try other advebtures : "are future is working with other musicians". Listening to Solar Propaganda that masterfully digests the intro gimmick of I Heard It Throught The Grapevine by Marvin Gaye suggests their very laudable possibilities.

When many have given "the keys of the van" back, they continus to "criss-cross" the roads : "The free party, you think it's dead, so you go away. And then somewhere else, when you don't expect it anymore, it's starts up as in 40. The people are twenty years old. They install kilos of sound, play music, dance. This movement seems to know how to decline endlessly", like their music. A substantive activism and a crazy myspace. A blurred discography and dates falling like ripe fruit : the Boucles Etranges remain diehard on their fields. The big class, when we know how to mesure the battle that must be delivered daily to conduct this boat to such port. That's what they're doing with this album, and with a freshness that we could, in all logic, no longer attribute to them. Because we know, the road uses too much. But with them, you can only see it by the soles of their shoes : it's that they've got enduring ideas.

Manuel first got involved with dancemusic when he was 13.
He discovered the dj/club culture from english magazines and the swedish radioshow P3 dans. He early decided to become a dj. Names like Carl Cox, Armand van Helden, Danny Tenaglia where the main big influences.

Manuel found techno while doing one of his regular recordhunting rounds in Stockholm. He soon found stuff by artists like Cari Lekebusch, Dave Angel, Adam Beyer etc.. and nothing less of a cliche truly found his calling with this music, this was his medium.

Not having any money to buy real decks, learning to dj was a slow process.
"I learned to beatmatch on an old akai turntable from the seventies and a tapedeck with recorded snippets from radioshows. It took me about 6 months to do a proper beatmix!"
The following years went by and the music got put on the side. These years went to the art of graffiti and later on computers and information technology.

In 2002 Manuel got back into music and started getting into producing and learning the tools of the trade. Using an oldass broken down p2 computer and a pair of gigantic speakers from the late seventies Manuel was in business.

In 2003 Manuel had his first release on Schlagwerx records which made impact on the dancefloors all over the world and with this he had found his calling.

2004 saw the 2 bombastic releases by Manuel on German labels Gad-X-Cell and Fastfood records, these records where praised by many media outlets and also got heavy playtime by famous dj’s like Dj Rush, Melanie Di Tria, Boris S, Dylan Drazen, etc...

In 2005 Manuel helped resurface the legendary label Template records with two releases. (Voices vol.1, Voices vol.2). This year Manuel also gigged around Europe extensively.

2006 started of with a real bang as late january saw the release of the bombastic ep Distorted Reality on dutch label Teknikal-Support. Extremely well received by the techno underground it sold out all copies pressed.

Following shortly after, In march of 2006 You gotta believe in something was released on the cult dutch label Acid Anonymous. Manuel showed with this ep the new direction of techno to come and of course another record to visit the worlds most prominent dj-cases.

Dj and songwriter originated from Bretagne in France, gliding in a register Drum core, Indus, Xp, Neurotik Techno Mental, Acid, Atmosphérique, Gothiko Noize since 1997. Active member of the sound system SALTIMBANKS from 1999 to 2003.

I create my own independent label in 2005 under the name PARANORMAL EFFECT RECORDS. My musical influences being vast, I try to capture throught my compositions a style mixing vaporous and ethereal melodies and rhythms between the solid earth, and inviting to a state of trance. This is an astralohypnotikothélépatique travelling music for the body and the mind which final goal is to get out of our mental world.

My projects would be coming up a group of industrial music and post gothic like COIL and DEAD CAN DANCE, combining different instrumentalists and performers at all genres. May this message do not fall on a deaf ear or in the eyes of a blind man! !!

One of the pioneer perpetrators known for bringing the artistry of "Live Hardware/Software" production to the American dancefloor, Atomikdog has been creating and performing live electronic music internationally since the 90's. As equal parts Composer, Performer, and Sonic Scientist, his exploration of the live sound has transcended many genres, though it currently resides in a unique blending of Dubstep with Tekno, Electro, and Breakbeat, and reflects both his intricate mastery of cutting-edge tools as well as his exposure to a wide range of musical influences in the electronic music community.

Atomikdog was first introduced to the Free Party Tekno scene in Europe in the early 90’s -- here he met, worked, and played with such revolutionary artists/organizers as Spiral Tribe, Tomahawk, Sound Conspiracy, Okupe, Nonem, Pyrotek, Tekno Mobile Sqaud and many others. He then spent 15 years living, touring and immersing himself in the freeparty tekno culture of Europe. In 2003 he brought his Live-set to the USA. Within a few years he had established himself as one of the Bay Area’s favorite headlining live acts -- with his all-hardware one-of-a-kind musical improvisations that brought a performance element into the electronic underground. Soon there after, he became affiliated with the Full Melt Crew, and played a major role in bringing the Dubstep sound, its artists and party flavor to the west coast. He has spent the past few years in France working with some of Europe’s top producers and labels including Crystal Distortion, I.O.T Records and Labrat Audio.

Though you may come across Atomikdog’s Live-set in a world of DJs, the experience he creates is radically different. Original, improvised and performed live, his music reflects a hint of his background in jazz and blues, fused with a love of synthesized sounds and hard driving rhythms filtered through a blend of hardware/software technology -- Hardware for it's dedicated operation, phatt sound and full-on tactile control surface. --Software for live multi-track sequencing, recording and complex sampling. By keeping these elements of sound separate and the control at his fingertips, he works directly with the "Biofeedback" that is received from the people on the dancefloor -- thus keeping the focus on symbiotic "Frequency Tunage". Atomikdog is making his way back to the West Coast this spring and summer for the first time in three years, bringing a new flavor of LIVE Dubstep/Tekno/Breakbeat/Electro to the people on dancefloors Everywhere....

1994: Mem pamal started of as a Dj in an electro pub at the same time he was taking classes at the music academy option electro-acoustic where he discovered synthesis and the theory of the sound on an Oberhein x-pander, and a passion was born.

Ideas came flowing and projects started to add up ... he took part in different collectives like KOSAKOFF or S.F.C, mixed with the hip hop scene and worked by the side of LACRO (L4K) ESKA and DJ DIAS. It is when he met Fred of ANTICORE who made it possible for Mem pamal to come to life for the first time on vinyl.

Made strong by this new creation and the welcoming that is made for him, he played in party upon party, and MEM PAMAL met new people. Philip (MARS ASSAULT) who as has also produced another vinyl for him, puts him in touch with Chris from TOOLBOX, a Parisian distributor and thanks to him he was able to create FANTOMATIK RECORDS, his future label.MEM PAMAL improvises, and sets of for London as an adventurer, in the aim to have done the masters of his own productions. It is PORCKIS and ALCHIMI two professional studios with a good reputation in the world of electro and drum'n'bass, who open their doors to him.

Later on he met Yann from OZORE AGE a Parisian label, who produced him a vinyl as well as his first album "longueur d'ondes", distributed by PIAS (FNAC). The diffusion of this double album, the interviews, the press articles (TRACKS, CODA, GRAFITI ...) helps him build up his notoriety.

Concerts in more important places, LAITERIE, BATOFAR, TRANSBORDEUR, NAUTILUS, DOCS DES SUDS, duos, lives and the vinyl's follow each other, such as the album "U 238 01" with the BOUCLES ETRANGES. Even a TV add came out on the national channels for the promotion of the compilation VIRGIN (the sound of free party).
MEM PAMAL multiplies his experience (FESTIVALS, CONCERTS, EXPOSTIONS, CLUBS, PUBS ...) in unexpected places like flea market in MARSEILLE in 2001 or at the "biennale du design de ST ETIENNE" in 2004 where he played on a sound system run on solar energy made in SWITZERLAND. He made the music for the film TRAVELLER TCHEQUE (a film by YANN RICHET) featuring the track THESSALONIKI. An other one of his collaborations, this time with the flutist/singer LAURENCE MOLLETA from Lyon, gives birth to the track "we're living in a giant spiral" featured on the album ELECTRIK (2006) produced by OZORE AGE.

MEM PAMAL has played in numerous artistic capitals of Europe :BERLIN, PRAGUE, TURINO BARCELONA, BRATISLAVA, AMSTERDAM, LUXEBOURG, PARIS, with international artists.
